Instrument Repair

We have an experienced repair technician on site to diagnose and complete any repairs that are required for your instrument.

Repairs

Do you have a note that is consistently playing sharp or flat? Does your instrument need to be repadded? Are you hearing a clicking or clacking sound when you use certain keys? Does the action in your key work not feel right? Do you have "gig damage," or a marching band scuff up? We are experts in removing bumps and dents, or soldering any broken key guards or posts. We have yet to find physical damage that we cannot repair. If you're just not sure what exactly is wrong with your instrument, we can also easily identify instrument leaks and other damage for you.

Cleaning

Detroit Saxophone Center has an Ultrasonic Cleaner to completely clean your instrument, inside and out. Ultrasonic cleaning uses high frequency sound waves to agitate a liquid. The agitation then induces cavitation bubbles which act on contaminants adhering to metal, plastic, glass, rubber, and ceramic materials. The process thoroughly removes all traces of contamination tightly adhering to solid surfaces, and penetrates blind holes, cracks, and recesses. Water or other solvents can be used, depending on the type of contamination, and the material makeup of the item being cleaned. Ultrasonic cleaning can remove contaminants consisting of dust, dirt, oil, pigments, rust, grease, algae, fungus, bacteria, lime scale, polishing compounds, flux agents, fingerprints, soot, wax, mold, etc...

Mechanical Overhaul

Is your instrument showing more serious signs of long term use or storage? Then it may be time to schudule a complete overhaul. We will disassemble your horn, clean all of the oil and dirt from the rods, replace all of the old pads, corks, and felts, and mechanically rebuild it again. Our complete overhauls also include an Ultrasonic Cleaning.
